Viking’s CD-428 at the UK’s biggest airport

At London Heathrow Airport (LHR), Viking Airport Equipment has supplied a major global ground handling company with an initial order of 160 CD-428 dollies. The feedback from users has been very positive. Ramp operatives and management from LHR were involved in the design process of the bespoke dollies, which made the project exciting for all parties involved. The involvement of ramp staff in the design, manufacturing, and delivery of the dollies has instilled pride in the equipment and its performance.

The dolly’s foot-operated fully retractable perimeter stop and anti-pedestrian step over barrier are important safety features that ensure safe and efficient loading and unloading of aircraft without any risk to operatives.

The foot pedal operated stops, located on both sides of the dollies, are a revolutionary feature that makes it possible for the dollies to be operated by a single person – streamlining the ULD handling process and making it safer and more efficient.

The foot pedal operated stops also play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of ramp operatives during loading and unloading. By having the stops located on both sides of the dollies, operatives are not required to work at the side of high loaders, minimising the risk of accidents and injuries.
